Sustainability principles

Max Havelaar Fair Trade Certified Cotton
Fairtrade helps farmers and workers in developing countries to gain a better place in the supply chain, so that they can live from their work and invest in a sustainable future. The Max Havelaar quality mark for textiles means that the entire chain from the cotton farmer to the factory works according to the standards of the International Labor Organisation.

Organic Cotton: Global Organic Textile Standard
Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is an international standard for organic clothing and textiles. Like the EKO label, the GOTS is based on 100% organic raw materials and clothing and textiles with this label must consist of at least 70% organic fibres. The percentage is stated on the label. The GOTS certification also requires compliance with social criteria in cotton cultivation and processing into fabric. This concerns matters such as minimum wages, a ban on child labor and a safe and hygienic working environment.

Business Social Compliance Initiative
The Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) is an initiative of companies committed to improving working conditions in their global supply chain. BSCI offers companies a code of conduct to support them in their efforts to establish an ethical supply chain.

Fair Wear Foundation
The Fair Wear Foundation is a Dutch organization that strives for good working conditions in the clothing industry in countries where clothing is produced for the Dutch and European market. Companies that participate in the Fair Wear Foundation implement the labor standards mentioned in the code of conduct and accept Fair Wear Foundation’s audit on the actual improvement of working conditions at their suppliers.
